Fast-paced and Exciting
This story can be read as having five “segments” each fast-paced and exciting down to the last chapter. It is about two brothers Chris and Michael, seeking to rescue of their parents, held by the bad guys on a far-away private island. The boys are aware that their parents, somewhat distant and in person and about their work, have secrets. The first segment sets the stage for the others, all fast paced and exciting: The Capture (of parents) and the Chase, in which the kids are targets and Michael (a bully at school) reveals a mastermind at technical knowledge and actions in securing and scanning his surroundings. Mike also has visions. They learn that the bad guys intend to kill their parents and them, but they do not learn why. Nearly caught they dash out to their truck. And that race is on….Other segment themes - Boat Adventure; Michael’s Comeuppance/ Race to the Mountains; Mountain Venture. And Getting to the Island and finding their patents and neighbors - are just as exciting. A Bond movie comes to mind, but this is not Bond getting to a party just in time and snazzily dressed. Instead the boys suffer cuts, bruises, knocks, and Michael being nearly eaten by a bear. And they sometimes cry……. In character terms, the boys themselves are only early teenagers, but their banter and repartees seem somewhat out of sync with their ages.

My grandson is extremely happy with this book and so am I. The author has a unique voice and communicates circumstances without gore, and with good visuals for a young adult perspective.
The story moves along easily with conversations and true to life banter between the kids. Believable rapid paced story, characters overcome uneasy and difficult obstacles. A timely subject matter for kids and they will find they are not alone in some circumstances. Enjoy!
As a story to get teenage boys reading, and to keep them reading, this book does a great job.
It has plenty of action. At times, it is a little over the top, but that doesn’t matter. The story keeps moving and the boys are on a time limit to accomplish their mission.

As an adult reader, some of the best scenes were when the pace slowed a little. The characters had time to reflect on circumstances, and the changing bond in their relationship is seen developing. The boys - especially Chris - mature a lot in the space of two weeks. And there are times when they are just kids - doing normal kid things.

I did think the plot wrapped up a little too easily at the climax - the good guys turned up at just the right moment to save the day.
I would have liked to see more of Michael’s motivations. Why he was the way he was and why the sudden change. As the main focus of this book was Chris, I would assume that Michael comes out more in future books.

There is definite intrigue that would lead me to read the continuing story of The Boulton Quest.
Brothers, Bullies and Bad Guys is an absorbing and fast moving story of two brothers who find themselves on a dangerous quest that ultimately has them fighting for their lives.

When Chris and Michael's home is invaded by machine gun wielding bad guys, they narrowly escape with their lives, but their parents aren't so lucky. As Chris and Michael try to come up with a plan, they end up uncovering more secrets than truths. Now, they must set aside their differences and work together in order to find their parents before it's too late.

Brothers, Bullies and Bad Guys takes readers on an epic journey of self-discovery and the importance of family, friendship, and forgiveness. I enjoy the author's writing style and the story's quick tempo grasped my attention and didn't let go. I also found the ingenuity and resourcefulness the author gives his young characters, during the many gripping scenes, to be appealing making the story all that more exciting. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I highly recommend picking up a copy.
In this novel we see a story about brotherhood and the bond between brothers, even if they don't particularly get along. It is faced paced and easy to get lost in the story. This book takes readers along as the brothers discover themselves as they learn why family, friends are such important things. The boys are early teens, but the way the act and speak doesn't seem to quite fit with this, they come off as being older than they actually are. As an adult I enjoyed the novel and thing young boys would get wrapped up within it as well. There were a lot of things that i felt happened too quickly and conveniently, but again it is a coming of age novel and that seems to be on par with how those books are written. I would suggest it to others and think it might help get young boys interested in mystery novels or reading in general.
I give this book five stars because I like the bond of the brothers. This is a good reads for younger readers above all, but it will do no harm if adults read it. When comes to the plot, I can say that it is slightly predictable, but well written and gives you a nice and content feeling in the end. Two brothers who are not that close but with all the troubles they get into they get closer and love each other more. Adventurous and mysterious events occur while the two brothers go through thick and thin together.
I think this book will be excellent for children, considering the fact that the whole plot is face paced and is very easy to understand. I had a feeling that I was watching a film; when the main target are younger readers that is an excellent thing.
This is a book for two brave boys, love for the family and the never ending need to save the people you love and care about.
