I love this quick devotional. It isn't super long but isn't a personal short story and only one verse. It is timeless because it's based on God's word
Great book, this book speaks directly from the Word of God to the heart of man. Loved every day of it and plan on reading it through again this year.
For anyone who loves the plain, true teaching of this incomparable servant of the Lord, will find this a real blessing. The portions are short, well suited for morning when one is busy and short at evening when the days work is done! Or for those who read them together, a nice little packet of gems to take with you through your day.
I have been reading this devotional for years in a hardback copy and am thrilled to have it on my now. It is a great blessing to receive this regular encouragement for my Christian life. A great comfort in trials and a good way to focus on the glorious truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ and of Scripture.
This book has been part of my routine for years. Few men command the English language like Spurgeon, and no truth is as sweet and mighty as Jesus’ lordship. Let Spurgeon remind you daily of what a great Savior is ours.
There is no consistency in the versus and in the translation. It seems in areas the publisher has attempted to slightly alter the original. Most quotes are NIV, which I would not have even thought to have looked at before purchasing a book by Spurgeon. In addition, in areas (Morning Jan 22nd for example) there is an extra quote which, as far as I can tell, isn't even a full translation of the verse quoted in any modern version (must less KJV). Amazingly enough, you CAN go wrong with Spurgeon here.
This is a very good book. I read it daily. It has KJV Scripture references. Which I dearly love. Love the messages Spurgeon conveys in his devotionals. Awesome book! If you are looking for daily devotionals, buy this book!
